Okay, so I will only slightly digress from the topic of sex..
In my Criminology class, my group was given the topic of porn. We were to argue if pornography (not child pornography) should remain legal or be illegal.
My group consisted of three guys, either football players, frat boys, or both.. What side do you think they took? :)
I took the same side, saying porn should be legal. That's the way I always felt. Through a lot of research, I'm proud to say I could back up my stance with some evidence.
So, why is porn good?
Myth #1: Watching porn causes men to be violent towards women.
There is no proof that this is true. To say it fancy, correlational data does not result in causation. To say it like a normal person, studies that show men have been violent cannot determine porn is the cause or the only cause of the violence.
Myth #2: Porn will ruin your sex life and/or relationship.
In terms of porn addiction, this could happen. However, if partners are open to watching pornography, it can actually help.. Why? See below.
1. Porn helps women feel comfortable about sexuality
2. Pornography can teach women/men about sex
3. It can help people avoid promiscuity when people are not in a relationship
4. For those who are into more risky types of sex, this could be an outlet for watching without doing.
There were other reasons we found, along with studies and figures. But you get the drift.
When used responsibly, porn can be a good thing. :)
